App Spotlight: Shows for iPhone

From time to time I’ll be highlighting some apps that I use on a regular basis. It takes a pretty great app to last more than 5 minutes on my phone, let alone on my homescreen. I don’t say that to be a snob, but let’s be honest, crap apps are pretty terrible. What I want to do with App Spotlight is share apps with you that I use. These won’t be apps I’ve tried at the request of the developer, these are apps I use on a regular basis that I’ve found on my own. First up, Shows for iPhone.

Shows is an app I stumbled upon a while back. Honestly, I don’t even remember how, but I’m glad I did. Shows provides live concert information from bands you like, and does it beautifully. The best part is in the fact that you barely have to lift a finger to get up and running. Shows will import your artists from the native Music app, Rdio, last.fm, or a combination of any or all of them. On top of that, Shows has push notifications letting you know when bands are playing within an area that you define.

Shows also sports a fantastic UI. The dark interface looks particularly good on a white iPhone. Don’t ask me why, it just does. Shows was created by Canada-based developer Sam Vermette, and is available for $2.99 I won’t go on and on, but if you’re into live music, I highly recommend picking it up.
